The Town of Hilton Head Island will host a drop-in style public information session on Thursday, October 17, 2019, to share information that was previously provided at the official U.S. 278 Corridor Improvements project Public Information Meeting on September 19, 2019.
These meetings, held quarterly with identified stakeholders, will provide a forum for the project team to provide updates on the project’s process and solicit feedback during key project milestones.

The project team was on-site with a booth at the 23rd Annual Gullah Celebration: Gullah Market, An arts, Crafts & Food expo.
During the initial site visit, the project team met with various stakeholders to gather local-level knowledge of the community, its challenges, and the best ways to communicate with the community. This information informed the Public Involvement Plan, as well as the Community Impact Assessment.
The purpose of this meeting is to introduce the project to the community, gather initial comments from the public, identify needs for the project, and help identify concerns the people may have about the improvements or the project's impact to the natural and human environments.
